[Description] At 15 years old, Jing stands not much taller than 5'. His short stature sometimes lead people to believe he is younger than his actual years. He has messy, spiky black hair that falls down in his face, and wide grey eyes. He is of fair complexion, with no visible scars or marks, and has an almost delicate-looking facial structure inherited from his mother. His chosen outfit consists of a sleeveless black shirt, black pants, and heavy boots with silver buckles. Over this is worn a full length coat of vibrant yellow-orange, full of hidden pockets. No buttons or clasps seem apparent on it, although the upper shoulders are marked with two spirals which trail down the sleeves. He wears no adornments such as jewelery, although not so much from preference as he’d never given it much thought. Concealed under his right coat sleeve is a curved, arm-mounted blade which he uses as his primary physical weapon. It can retract into a hidden sheath when not in use. IMAGE

[Personality] Sufficiently, Jing might be described as a brat. To elaborate, he is seen as somewhat spoiled due to his lifestyle, which consists primarily of taking things that don’t belong to him. He is an accomplished thief, perhaps even without equal in his own world, but his motives are selfish and vain. He takes great pride in his title of Bandit King and goes to lengths to prove any challenger inferior to his own skill. He can be childish and immature, although in rare situations shows a very adult-like understanding of situations. He is naturally curious, and likes to tease and play jokes good-naturedly. When he is in a good mood, he remains upbeat and optimistic, even going so far as to playfully chastise people who are pessimists or surly. He seems to have a natural aversion to social authority, going out of his way to break rules or upset customs, and yet he acknowledges an emotional type of authority, deferring to those who naturally claim respect.

Jing also seems to have a fondness for those smaller or younger than he is, acting very protective of them. Yet he is also capable of being very withdrawn, particularly late at night or when he is left alone for a time. He often reflects on his past and can appear depressed, although mostly it is just a deep sadness. He relies heavily on his partner, Kir, for emotional stability. His relationship with the albatross is extraordinarily close and hard to quantify into a single phrase, but it seems to be a mix of brother and best friend, with a dash of parental figure thrown in. To other people, he would much rather make friends than enemies, and to those people he does call friend, he remains extremely loyal regardless of whether it's reciprocated or not. When faced with a challenge, Jing often appears reckless and foolish, when in actuality, it is the time when he shows the most control over himself. He adores perplexing and unusual situations, and the thrill of trying to steal something. He loves learning new things, particularly about anything that can't be found in his own world.

[Canon] Jing has an extraordinary impact on his world on two levels. Firstly, he is a public figure (albeit an infamous one) and thus known across all of Aquavitae for being the Bandit King. Many tales have sprung up about his amazing skill in thievery and he's said to even be able to take the stars out of the sky. Dozens of priceless treasures have been taken in unbelievable heists, sometimes right from in front of their owners and no one has been able to catch him -- most are too shocked to learn he's nothing more than a teen. His feats give the already fantastic world of Aquavitae yet another twist.

As a person however, Jing impacts people on an emotional level which far exceeds his ability to steal. The people he encounters on his adventures are often lacking in some way, or "damaged" by their pasts or present situation. Jing is seen as an outsider who upsets the natural balance of things in their lives, bringing new perspective to them. Although he often takes what people consider to be their most precious possessions, they soon find that Jing has left something equally precious for them in return: peace of mind, a lost loved one, even a new purpose in life. In a sense, he often gives away as much as he steals.
